Tent Making Christianity’s Top 5 Blog Posts Of 2020

Tent Making Christianity's Top 5 Blog Posts Of 2020

Tent Making Christianity’s Top 5 Blog Posts Of 2020. This has been an interesting year to say the least.  2019 was our first full year in operation here at Tent Making Christianity.  We grew our audience at a quick and steady pace.  2020 started off building on that momentum.

And then the pandemic hit.  We saw a sharp decline in our readership, podcast downloads and hits to the website.  We understood.  With everything else going on in the world, these seemed like trivial things to worry about.

But through God’s grace, we rebounded heavily in the second half of the year.  Thanks to several publications sharing our articles, we actually finished the year with 25% increase in readership and site visits!  God is good!

So without further ado, here are the top five blog posts in terms of readership for 2020!

Number 5: Did Bart Ehrman Change His Mind About God?

A blog post by skeptical New Testament scholar Bart Ehrman created quite a buzz earlier this year.  Many Christians took some comments from the post to mean that Bart had actually changed his mind about God’s existence.  In this post, we examine exactly what was said, and where Ehrman stands on the God question.

Number 4: What Christians Need To Know About The Nazareth Inscription.

There are many interesting ancient artifacts that confirm facts presented in the Bible.  Some of these items directly confirm a Biblical place or person.  One of the lesser known of these is the Nazareth Inscription.  The stone tablet contains an early prohibition from Caesar on tomb robbing. Does this have anything to do with events in Jerusalem in the 1st century? The answer to this question made this our 4th most popular post of the year.

Number 3: Do Christians Need To Watch Their Language?

Any time you have a blog and website dealing with religion, you can expect to stir up controversy.  But sometimes that controversy comes in unexpected forms. What we thought would be a thought-provoking article on Christians using curse words turned into a full blown debate online.  The controversy and social media dialogue that ensued propelled this post into the number 3 slot for the year.

Number 2: 5 Reasons Protestants Don’t Include The Apocrypha

At the core of modern Christianity is the Bible.  It’s our primary source for the life of Jesus, and the history of the Jewish people’s relationship with God. But why do some Bibles have extra books in them?  What are they there for?  Are they considered Scripture?  This article gives 5 reasons why Protestants don’t include the Apocrypha in their Bibles.

Number 1: What Science Can’t Do For Us During The Pandemic.

It’s somewhat fitting that our most popular post for 2020 dealt with the pandemic.  A popular refrain from our public officials has been “We need to follow the science”.  But what can science actually tell us about how to handle a pandemic?  Does science actually tell us what is “Safe”?  Thanks to a popular site republishing this post, it became far and away our most popular post of 2020.

Well, what did you think?  Did any of your favorite posts make the list?  We’d love to hear which posts in 2020 you found interesting.
